Eligibility Requirements
The ACCEPT NRT program is open to all students that wish to complete the courses and program activities.
However, there are generous fellowships available to certain students that meet eligibility requirements.
Funding is only allowed, per the guidelines of NSF, to students who are selected and meet the following criteria:
Preference will be given to students who show or present a strong interest in the study of Precision Time and Frequency and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) field as a whole. No prior research or related professional experience is required, but would be highly valued and such candidates are encouraged to apply. The evaluation process will seek to select a cohort of diverse students with differing skill sets.

- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- master or PhD student
- majoring in physics and astronomy, electrical and computer engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, mathematics, computer science, geography, or related discipline
- full-time student

***PLEASE NOTE that prospective graduate students applying to the ACCEPT program must still apply to their graduate department through the UA Graduate School. Students not admitted to a department cannot be part of the ACCEPT program nor can they receive ACCEPT fellowships. The ACCEPT program and fellowship is an add-on to normal admission and student status, and this application in no way replaces the UA Graduate Admissions Process.***

STEP 2: Preliminary applications will be reviewed to determine eligibility and program fit. Only students who have completed the preliminary application and have been contacted by the Program Coordinator should proceed to Step 2. These students should submit the following materials to the Program Coordinator, in a single PDF, by e-mail:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Transcripts from all institutions previously or currently attending
- Contact information (e-mail and phone number) for three references
Interviews will be scheduled when contacted by the Program Coordinator.
2024 ACCEPT Cohort Application Deadlines
Prospective graduate students applying to the University of Alabama should submit their Step 2 package to the ACCEPT Program Coordinator by the due date of graduate applications in the home department they are applying to, if they wish to receive full consideration for ACCEPT Fellowship support. However, applications from students will be accepted on a rolling basis for both ACCEPT program admissions and fellowship support until May 5th, 2024.
Current graduate students applying to join the program in their second year will get full consideration if applications are received by March 1, 2024. However, applications from students will be accepted on a rolling basis for both ACCEPT program admissions and fellowship support until May 5th, 2024.
